Joining FSC® Forest Week 2025

This year, PRS is proud to align with FSC® Forest Week 2025 under the theme “Do one thing for forests”. The campaign raises global awareness about the importance of responsible forestry and invites companies, partners, and consumers alike to take action.

For PRS, our “one thing” is clear: sourcing only FSC ®- and PEFC-certified wood for every pallet we use in our pallet pool. As of 2025, all new purchased pallets are made from only PEFC- or FSC® -certified timber. By sharing this milestone during Forest Week, we highlight how collective action, big or small, can protect forests for future generations.

Since becoming certified in 2011, we’ve worked toward one clear goal: ensuring that none of the wood we use contributes to deforestation. By sourcing only from legal, sustainable origins, we now fully align our pallet production with the highest environmental standards.

Why certified wood matters

Wood is the only fully renewable raw material used in pallet production. By choosing certified wood, we ensure that forests are managed in a way that respects ecological, social, and economic functions. This includes:

• Reforestation: New trees are planted or forests regenerate naturally after harvesting.

• Biodiversity: Forest ecosystems are preserved by selective logging and habitat protection.

• Social responsibility: The rights and welfare of local and indigenous communities are respected.

• Economic sustainability: Forests are used in a way that remains viable for future generations 

Raising the bar for suppliers

To make this possible, we’ve raised the bar for our pallet suppliers. Only certified suppliers can be a PRS partner, and we’ve built strong relationships to ensure long-term compliance. This also prepares us for upcoming regulations like the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which requires full traceability and due diligence.

Beyond sourcing: full traceability

Certification goes beyond sourcing; it also requires transparent administration. All purchase documentation, from order to invoice, must comply with certification schemes. Regular audits and recertification ensure we stay on course.

Circular, sustainable, and future-ready

This step strengthens our circular pooling system, protects natural resources, and supports our customers in reaching their own sustainability goals. It’s a clear example of how PRS is building a supply chain that’s not only efficient and circular, but also eco-friendly and future-ready.
