PRS’s approach to sustainability is a structured, group-aligned strategy built on data, action and collaboration. As part of Faber Group, we are working to become Europe’s most sustainable pallet pooling partner, and the digital leader in load carrier pooling and logistics optimisation.
The Sustainability Progress Report 2024 outlines how PRS contributes to this ambition through a circular business model that replaces single-use solutions with reusable pallets. These assets are critical to building a circular economy across supply chains in the petrochemical industry. Pallets are reused, repaired, and recovered through our pallet collection services, reducing the demand for new materials and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
What’s driving our strategy
At the core is the Peak and Plateau or Ecovadis framework. The Peak Programme focuses on reducing our environmental footprint and improving the performance of our pallet pool system. It includes seven impact areas, from reducing CO₂e emissions to extending the lifespan of our wooden pallets and improving pallet recovery services. It is supported by continuous improvement in pallet management, certified sourcing and digital transformation.
This strategy enables PRS to support the supply chain of the petrochemical industry to become more circular and more efficient. It also helps customers respond to EU packaging legislation, including the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Our circular pooling system helps avoid emissions, reduce waste and support compliance with transport packaging reuse targets.
A new chapter in sustainable procurement
One of the key milestones in 2024 was the launch of GREEN30+, a procurement program designed to embed sustainability into every sourcing decision.
Our goal to use 100% FSC or PEFC certified timber by 2025 has already been achieved, a major step toward responsible resource use. GREEN30+ also strengthens collaboration with suppliers and promotes sustainable pallet solutions throughout our reverse logistics network.
From words to measurable results
In 2024, PRS contributed to significant CO₂e savings for our customers. This impact is expected to grow through continued network optimisation and more efficient collaboration with our customers and their networks.
What’s next
Our strategy does not stop at carbon savings. It includes how we support people, strengthen partnerships and build logistics systems that deliver long-term value. Whether you work in operations, sustainability or commercial teams, every department plays a role in making our strategy real and making supply chains smarter and more sustainable.
